from behind the fence
flutter of ducks wings take flight
sight, sound most divine

Sunday's Tanka

Velvet black birds on
Lush green carpets stealing
Worms from their safety

Sunday morning walks offer
murder by crows and beauty

Haiku Trio

Each night since birth and
to a little girl now ten
do I tell stories

The stories I read
and the ones I make up fresh
still soothe her to sleep

Mama, tell me please
coyote story again
which version say I?

Two days ago Fall arrived with a cold wind
Tickling the Japanese maple's drying leaves

Morning walks more refreshing on my skin
And clearing the heartspace a day at a time

Beloved time in the afternoon begins
As my school age youngster bursts in with tales to tell

And a late night reminisce of that funny conversation we had over dinner...
